Kari M. Gannam is an attorney that brings 14 years of civil and criminal legal experience to the firm.  She is licensed to practice law in both Texas and California.  Her practice area focuses on all areas of family law, including divorce, protective orders, spousal agreements, division of assets, and wills and trusts.

Professional Experience

Ms. Gannam has extensive courtroom experience.  She has handled thousands of contested hearings, dozens of trials, and negotiated countless settlements.  Ms. Gannam began her career in criminal prosecution, working as a Deputy District Attorney for San Mateo County, CA, for over seven years.  In that role, she prosecuted a wide range of cases, including domestic violence, violent felonies, financial crimes and insurance fraud.  Following her time as a criminal prosecutor, Ms. Gannam handled  personal injury defense litigation matters for a national insurance company.  In that role, she represented clients that had been sued as a result of accidents occurring on the roadway or in their homes.  Her unique combination of experience has molded her into a forceful advocate both in and out of the courtroom.  

Educational Background

Ms. Gannam received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Rhetoric and History, with honors, from the University of California Berkeley, in 2005.  She then went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from the Martin Luther King Jr. School of Law, University of California, Davis in 2008. During her time in law school, Ms. Gannam worked for the Family Law Clinic, representing victims of domestic violence in their family law matters, earning her the Public Law Service designation upon graduation.  Ms. Gannam was admitted to practice law in California in 2008, and in Texas in 2021.

Personal Background

Ms. Gannam lives in Denton County with her husband and two elementary school aged children.  They stay busy on the weekends with baseball and soccer tournaments, as well as taking their black lab, Walker, on adventures around the neighborhood.
